The notice may appear, for example, if your holiday compensation has been periodised or if you start a full-time job lasting more than two weeks during the application period.

If you start a full-time job that lasts more than two weeks, apply for earnings-related allowance up to the day before the job begins. In this case, select “Full-time employment lasting more than two weeks” as the reason.

What is an application gap?

An application gap is a period for which you have not applied for earnings-related allowance.

If there is a longer break between your applications, the application form will ask you to explain what you were doing during the gap. This may occur, for example, if you have been working full-time, studying, or otherwise not covered by the unemployment security system during that period.

The application form shows the date up to which you last applied for earnings-related allowance. If the first day of your new application is not the day immediately following that date, you will be asked to provide information about the application gap period.

State the reason for the application gap and the period it covers. If, for example, you have been working full-time, enter as the start date of the application gap the first day for which you no longer applied for earnings-related allowance, and as the end date the day before your new application period begins.

Remember to report your working hours – inclunding paid annual leave

If you have worked during the application period, remember to report all hours worked on your application, including hours for paid annual leave. If you are working part-time in a job that lasts more than two weeks, please also attach your employment contract to your application.

If you start a full-time job that lasts more than two weeks, you are generally not entitled to earnings-related allowance during the period of full-time employment. In that case, you can apply for earnings-related allowance up to the day before your full-time job begins.

Also note that you must report your working hours on the application if you are paid wages during your annual leave.
