Unemployment Fund Ote sends its individual members a membership fee invoice once a year. The invoice is issued at the beginning of the year, and the membership fee for the entire year is charged in a single instalment. If you join the fund during the year, the membership fee is charged only for the months during which the membership is valid.

Members who belong to Unemployment Fund Ote through a trade union pay their membership fee as part of their union membership fee. Instructions for paying the fee are provided by their trade union.

Reporting changes

If you are already a member but are unable to log in to Otenetti, please send us a message via secure email(siirryt toiseen palveluun, avautuu uuteen ikkunaan). Include your name, personal identity code, and, if applicable, the name of your trade union in the message.

E-invoices and other billing options

By default, membership fee invoices are sent by post to the address you have provided. Depending on your settings in Posti’s OmaPosti service, the invoice may also be delivered digitally to your OmaPosti inbox (www.posti.fi/en/omaposti).

If you wish, you can easily set up e-invoicing through your online banking service. To do so, you will need the name of the biller (Unemployment Fund Ote), your membership number and the reference number from your most recent invoice. Both your membership number and the reference number can be found on the invoice.

If you would prefer to receive your invoices by email, please contact us through Otenetti.

Payment reminders and expulsion from the fund

If a member has not paid their membership fees within three months from the beginning of the period to which the fees relate, they may be expelled from the fund. Expulsion takes effect retrospectively from the date from which the membership fees remain unpaid. Before a decision on expulsion is made, the member will be given an opportunity to be heard regarding the outstanding membership fees. A payment reminder serves as the hearing.

Membership fees cannot be waived for any reason during membership. Membership fees must therefore also be paid during periods of unemployment, study leave and family leave..

Failure to pay membership fees does not constitute a notice of resignation. Any resignation from the fund must always be submitted in writing.

What happens if you are expelled from the unemployment fund?

  • The unemployment fund membership will end. If expulsion occurs due to unpaid membership fees, the membership will end retroactively (you will be expelled as of the date from which the fees have remained unpaid).
  • Any benefits paid by the fund will be reclaimed from the date of expulsion.
  • You will lose any earnings-related allowance period that may have started before expulsion, as well as accrued membership and employment periods.
  • In cases of switching funds, membership and employment periods will not transfer to the new fund if you have been expelled from the previous one.

Expulsion from the unemployment fund may therefore lead to recovery of previously paid benefits (such as earnings-related allowance) and loss of entitlement to allowance, even if you are already a member of another unemployment fund.

If you rejoin the unemployment fund after expulsion, the fund can only pay allowance once the membership and employment conditions have been met again.
